Dear friends,
In September 2024, I invited the PazNaz Board of Directors to begin succession planning in preparation for the identification and election of the next senior pastor of PazNaz. Since that meeting, the Board has met with Dr. Mark Lehman, District Superintendent of the Los Angeles District Church of the Nazarene, to begin the pastoral search process prescribed by the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene. (Click here for more information).
Joan and I are blessed to have shared ministry and life with you and all of the worshipping communities at PazNaz. These past seven and a half years have been rich with challenge, opportunity, and the rebirthing of PazNaz following the pandemic. Giving thanks to God, we celebrate a church that is healthy, actively engaged in mission in its local and global neighborhoods, and poised for the next season of imagination and ministry in the San Gabriel Valley.
After much prayer and consideration, and with gratitude for the care and love you have extended to us these past years, we believe that it is time for a new pastor to articulate a new and reimagined vision for the next season of ministry. We will complete our service to PazNaz as senior pastor on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Between now and then, Dr. Lehman and the Board of Directors will:
-
With your help, complete the pastoral profile of the desired traits, virtues, and experiences of the next senior pastor. (click here to fill out the online survey. Hard copies are available on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. The survey is open through Sunday, February 23)
-
Begin interviews with potential candidates.
In the event the next senior pastor is not identified and elected before April 27, 2025, an interim pastor will assist PazNaz until the next senior pastor is elected and prepared to take office.
Please accept our heartfelt thanks and know of our continued prayers and encouragement as God reveals the next season of life and ministry for PazNaz.
Gratefully,
Joe Watkins
Senior Pastor
